Given the position we are in now with this panademic where you do have a lot of people who are unemployed, had to sell there houses or put some kind of hold on their mortgages, etc. Since I have probably mentioned a few situations and other examples as well as 10 healthy habits to budget yourself in the difficult times as well as goals that you want to attach.

10 Healthy Habits that you can take on board as a long term and short term achievements. Some tips can assist you with:

  1. Review your financial status.
Look at what you are spending and if you are spending too much. For example: what you get paid weekly, fortnightly, monthly, etc. Petrol, Gym memberships, mortgage repayments, kids school fees, various bills, over spending on various expensive that you don’t need to.
  2. Limit what do you want to spend
Have a goal that you want to achieve. This can be short or long term. You know when you have started saving you are driven and determined that you want to get ASAP and not wait forever.
  3. Remember the basics.
Go back to basic and remember how to save money or when we didn’t have in any credit cards and only paid with cash, etc. Or even when you told your kids that were only allowed to get an item for their birthdays or on a special occasion.
  4. Have a weekly budget on what you want to spend cause this will help with either your long term or short term goal.
Open up a spreadsheet so you know what you are spending weekly, monthly and the like. This can help you with your long term and short goals you want to achieve for yourself and your family.
  5. Have a strategy plan in place or a back up plan.
In other words have a plan B in place for those rainy days where you know things might pop up such as repairs around the house, decide to go on holidays, etc.
  6. Have more meals at home instead ordering take away, ubers, etc.
Be conscious how often you were buying take away foods or ubers or going out for dinners, etc and make that important decisions to cook at home most of the week.
  7. Keep on top of your credit cards, mortgage and any other loans you have.
Always know when your mortgage repayments will be coming out of your account and always have money in there. And also pay off the credit card on the due dates of when the banks advises you.
  8. Track your spending
Have a excel spreadsheet in place to plan on whats coming and whats going out.
  9. Have a saving account where you are only use it every quarter, etc.
This can be organised via your bank.
  10. Treat yourself now and again.
In saying this, don’t go over board. Just be realistic and reasonable.

I know that everyone has different ways in budgeting and I know for myself that when I know that financially I want to achieve something. Then I know I am driven to get to a certain amount and get there as soon as possible.

Overall this will hopefully help all ages in life and along your life will come across a few hurdles that weren’t expecting and things will just fall on your lap.

Just stay focused and determined on what you want to achieve in life and hopefully you will get them.
